Happy Birthday Mom!

This weekend we celebrated Mom's birthday. I was originally scheduled to work Sunday but got the day off and drove to Big "C" town to have lunch with my parents and Sydney. Sydney had been with Mom and Dad since Friday and they had such a fun time. Saturday Aunt Norma and David took Mom and Sydney out to eat at On the Border for an early birthday lunch and then mom brought Sydney up to our house to swim in the pool. I was able to leave work early and join them as well. Mom said they had been up since 6:30 in the morning playing on the deck outside. As soon as the it starts getting light outside Sydney will tell you, "The sun is up, we have to get up." She rarely sleeps in, I guess she is used to my early morning work schedules by now.

Sydney loves to make cupcakes so Mom said they would make cupcakes for her birthday instead of baking a cake.  Dad grilled some awesome steaks and we just had a nice family lunch.

Sydney helped wrap Mawmaw's presents and was sure each present had a bow. Jason would be so proud she remembered. Jason usually wraps all the presents in our home and it is a requirement of his that each present have a bow.

Happy Birthday Mom! We Love You!

Fondue, Zoo, and Swimming

Friday night the three of us went out to dinner for fondue. Jason finished another semester on May 11th but he was gone last weekend for the last phase of Yellow Ribbon with his unit so we celebrated this weekend. He also gained his associates degree this semester so it was pretty special. He wasn't planning on getting his associates degree, he just had enough classes. I am really proud of him. I know it has been quite a transition this past year for him coming home from deployment and going back to college to get his degree. We went to Simply Fondue and it was yummy. I didn't take my camera so here are some pictures off my phone.

After dinner we headed to our favorite bookstore: Half Price Books and loaded Sydney up with some books. Half Price has such a good selection of childrens books and a lot of them are brand new and still really cheap. Needless to say we go there a lot.

Saturday morning we woke up and decided to head out to the zoo for a few hours. I am pretty positive we picked one of the hottest and humid days to go to zoo. And it was super crowded. We ended up parking in a field if that tells you how crowded it was. I guess we underestimated how crowded it is on the weekends because we usually go during the week. Jason even asked if something special was going on but there wasn't.
You tell how humid it was by how tight Sydney's curls became.
We were so exhausted and hot by the time we got home. Sydney took a nap around four and didn't wake up until around 8. My parents originally planned on coming over to help start rebuilding out back fence but we had to change our plans for another weekend.

Sunday afternoon Mom and Dad came over and brought Sydney a new toy for the pool.
Can you tell how much she loves this turtle float? Mom is going to be watching Sydney a lot in June and they plan on spending a lot of time in the pool. She is going to have her hands full with Sydney. She is such a "fish."
After we swam we came back inside and enjoyed some watermelon Mom and Dad brought over.
Sydney ate that whole huge piece plus some. The girl loves watermelon.

Wanna Swim with Me?

It may have rained and hailed early today but that didn't stop me from going to the pool. The water wasn't even cold!

At the Pool

Last night Jason and I made the executive decision to let Sydney skip swim lessons. Well, really we bribed her with a McDonald happymeal. Don't judge us, we were really tired. So instead of driving out to swim lessons we went and swam in our pool. Technically it is not our own pool but the "community" pool but since I think we moved into an undisclosed senior citizen community we basically have the pool to ourselves. This is one of the benefits of having all elderly neighbors, you never have to worry about what you look like in your swimsuit when going to the pool because you will by far look good in comparison.

We did a lot of this:
and this:
She loves to scale the wall from one end to the other

I am pretty sure we are going to be spending a lot of time out here in the coming months.
