March 12-14th

This past weekend was pretty relaxing. It was the first weekend we did not have anything planned out of town. It seems like we have been on the go for the past month or so and my body is just plain tired between work, traveling, and a 3 year old. We were able to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather. Friday evening we just ran a few errands for Brianna's birthday party and went out to eat at Olive Garden. Sydney insisted on sitting by Jason at the resturant and I just smiled and said, "Sure Sweetheart." Sometimes when we take Sydney out to eat, it is a fine dining experience for all three of us, but not so much this time. While I enjoyed sipping on a glass of my red wine, I savored every mintue of watching Jason handle our wild child who was spitting, refusing to eat, throwing her shoes off, trying to crawl under the table etc. Besides...Jason and I had a rather large "disagreement" during the afternoon so I just smiled and thought of one word: Payback. I think we pretty much breezed through the "terrible two" stage, it is this age we struggle with often if not daily. Some days she constantly tests us and some days we struggle with discipline. We aren't always on the same page in that area as Jason is much more lenient with Sydney. He was away from her for a year during his deployment, and now she has him completely wrapped around her finger. It can be difficult at times to say the least.

Saturday morning I started making Brianna's cake pop cake. Kristine and a girl from my old job have made cake balls before and they are pretty darn delicious. Brianna's birthday had a circus theme so her pops were red, yellow, and blue.

That afternoon was Brianna's 1st birthday party and all the kids really had a lot of fun.

These two pictures seriously crack me up. It has been far too long since Jason has held a baby. Could he look anymore uncomfortable? He has his left hip thrown out further than any woman could ever do and he can't quite seem to figure out where his right arm should go.

What kid doesn't love a trampoline?

And even the big kids like the trampoline:
All the grandkids minus the babies

Sunday after church we came home exhausted. The time change really didn't work well with us, but somehow we managed to make it to Pappasitos for lunch ;). Later, we picked some pinecones for an activity with Sydney and then before we had a chance to do the activity we all agreed it was naptime. Later that evening we went over to Brandon and Kristine's for Community Group with their church. The people in their community group/small group are "real" and open with their life and it is awesome because no one leads a perfect life and we all are here to learn. Sydney stayed the night with Avery and the two of us came home and watched some shows on our DVR that did not include Yo Gabba Gabba (yes, we let our daughter watch that insanely creepy show), Dora, Diego, and anything related to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. There was no, "Oh Tootles, or Hot Dog Hot Dog Hot Diggity Dog!" sang at our house all night. Yes, it was a pretty good night to an end of a pretty relaxing weekend.
