San Antonio Day 1

Jason was orginally suppose to attend another phase of the post deployment conference this weekend in San Antonio. It is just a continuation of the classes he received last month when we flew to California. The Army pays for our hotel during those days so I scheduled a hotel for the night before so we could have an extra day in San Antonio. Friday was scheduled as a travel day, so he wouldn't have class and we would have all day for Seaworld. On Wednesday his orders got changed and the conference was cancelled. Obviously you cannot promise two 3 year olds Seaworld and not deliver. So we drove down on Thursday morning and got back around 10:30pm Friday night. If the rooms weren't so outragiously expensive on the Riverwalk because of Spring Break we may have stayed another night, but it worked out well. The girls just slept on the way home.

The girls both got surprises from the hotel. Each bag had a rubber ducky, and first aid supplies.

Sydney and Avery wore matching outfits both days in San Antonio.

They had loads of fun running down the hall of the hotel...

And riding up and down the elevator. One poor man got sent to several floors before stopping at his own when the girls got a little "button happy" on the elevator.

I will never forget the laughter that came from these two girls.

We all walked to the Alamo since it was just a few blocks from the hotel. Unfortunately, my pictures came out overexposed but you can still make out the Alamo in the back.

They are so sweet. Avery is 3 months older than Sydney and they play so well together. Okay well, for the most part. As long as they are both getting equal attention. Lets get real, they are three years old and both a little on the bossy side sometimes. It's really quite a shame Brandon and Jason passed that down to them. But in all seriousness, they have such a blast together.

We left the Alamo and headed down to the Riverwalk

Here is part of the Riverwalk but 8 months ago when we went. I just didn't take many pictures this time. Imagine this with tons of people. It was super crowded because of Spring Break.

The first resturant we went to eat at, our waiter never came. See how sad Avery was. The girl just wanted some chips and hot sauce! There were so many people the waiters couldn't keep up and we were really hungry so we left

and ate elsewhere. The girls were much happier when they finally got some good service and so were we.

This is when I suggested we get ice cream. Avery's eyes lit up and Sydney screamed "Yes!"

We did stop at the Ice Cream Shop on the Riverwalk but the line was more than out the door, so we ordered room service. But then room service was backed up and we waited for over an hour for strawberry ice cream. The girls didn't seem to mind, they danced to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

And then they both focused on what Mickey was saying.

Finally around 10pm, the ice cream came. It was so sad. Sydney had fallen asleep and we let Avery wake her up when it finally came. Avery was not going to bed without her ice cream. She kept asking, "Uncle Jason, Aunt Shannon when is the ice cream man going to be here." Look at those eyes she was determined to stay awake for that ice cream.

And finally they went to sleep. They needed their rest, Seaworld was the next day.
